what is MEOR?
“The goal is not to find new landscapes, but to find a new pair of eyes.” ~ Marcel Proust University is the time that young adults prepare for the journey of life. They ask crucial questions: What is a good life? How can I achieve it? And how is Judaism relevant to my personal development? Throughout the ages Judaism has encouraged this search and has responded to these questions with wisdom and sensitivity. However, in this generation the knowledge of our heritage is weak and many students associate Torah with boring, superficial, irrelevant Sunday School classes. In response to this need, MEOR has developed campus programming that is sophisticated, relevant and personal. It has created a staff of dynamic and personal scholars to be available on over 20 campuses to talk, teach and discuss with individual students. Its exciting and creative Maimonides Leadership Fellowship program creates Jewish literacy, communal bonding and develops student leaders through a ten week classroom and experiential learning curriculum. MEOR has expanded the classroom with it’s exciting international trips that enable students to broaden their Jewish horizons and Jewish knowledge around the globe. Summer study retreats and Washington DC Capitol Hill internships allow students to learn the concepts of leadership and then apply what they have learned. MEOR's programming seeks to create Jewish lives of meaning and merit and develop a new generation of leaders. |
